Antrim Camogie League Division 1
Tir na nÓg 3-13 Cushendall 3-9
Tir na nÓg completed the home and away double over Cushendall in Division 1 of the Antrim Camogie League when they beat them at Whitehill on Tuesday evening. When the sides met a few weeks ago in Cushendall it was a great contest with the Randalstown girls coming out on top by a few points.
This time around they proved the first result was no fluke as they again produced a performance to claim two valuable league points
After dominating early in the game thanks to a goal and a point from Emily Faloon, an Ellen Leech point and a Sinead Cosgrove goal brought the Ruairiettes level and it was nip and tuck up until first half injury time when three points on the bounce from Emily Faloon and Aine Devlin (2) put them four clear at the short whistle.
Two more points from Aine Devlin early in the second half put the Whitehill girls six in front. Three in a row from Ellen Leech (2) Sinead Cosgrove brought Cushendall right back into the game. However, three on the trot from Michaela Heggarty, Aine Devlin and Niahm Martin put the Whitehill girls seven clear. Ellen Leech’s late goal for the visitors reduced the deficit to four at the final whistle.
