Our young Hurlers were invited to the very well run Naomh Padraig’s invitational tournament. We entered a team in the p3-p4 section and first up was the group stage with three good matches against Dungannon, Slaughtneil and Loughgiel. With some great hurling and well taken scores, we ended up winning all three games. That took us into Cup side of the draw where we played St Paul's of Belfast in the 1/4 finals. Again some great team work, good defending and lovely scores saw us book our semi final spot against Dunloy. The game was an excellent advert for juvenile hurling but unfortunately for Ruairí Óg at the final whistle, a very good Dunloy had done enough to reach the final, which they went on to win. Our boys battled hard and did themselves their parents, coaches and the club proud.
Hopefully, the young boys will learn from this defeat to work harder and come back stronger next time but congratulations must go to Dunloy who won the Cup tournament and were worthy winners on the day.
Our coaches would like to thank Naomh Padraig - North Antrim for inviting us and making the day a fantastic experience for the three hundred hurlers, mentors, parents and supporters who attended on the day.
Maith sibh.
