The statement below is that which was issued to newspapers and published today (Saturday 9th April) in the Irish News. At no point was anyone speaking, as the Irish News would suggest, after the member's meeting.
We would ask that those 'well placed sources', as quoted in the article mentioned, do not continue to speak on behalf of our club executive and carry club information out of our member's meetings.
Below is the official statement.

Statement from Ruairí Óg GAC Cushendall Chairman Brian Kearney
Recent reports in the media have carried serious allegations into the finances of our club. At a recent member's meeting of the Ruairí Óg GAC in Cushendall, members of the club unanimously endorsed the executive committee to continue to carry out a full investigation into reports of financial impropriety at the club.
These allegations, which came to light recently, are naturally upsetting for our club and our members. However we must ensure that we have the full facts before we take any necessary and decisive action. Our priority must be to ensure that funds raised through and for our club are properly managed through the correct procedures and safeguards.
Ruairí Óg has had an incredible year, which has seen it reach the All-Ireland club finals in Croke Park and donations received to support this campaign are all accounted for.
There is a long and respected tradition of promoting Gaelic sport in the Glens of Antrim. While these allegations have been difficult for the club and our supporters to hear they will in no way impact on our players and the wonderful game of hurling in Cushendall.
I want to thank our members and supporters for their understanding at this time and assure everyone that the club remains on a strong financial footing. The values and traditions of Ruairí Óg GAC, which have seen hurling remain at the heart of our community for over a century, will continue on into the future.
