Even though we gained an extra hour this weekend 7.15am still came round early this morning. Our panel of fifteen, U10 boys with kit packs packed, met at the pavilion for the trip to Na Fianna, Dublin, to compete in the Dermot McNulty Shield blitz – all travelling by car with committed club parents.
This was to be a fantastic opportunity to bench mark ourselves against southern opposition. With weather on our side, in late October sunshine, and not a drop of rain, the boys met their first opposition ‘Kilmacud Crokes’, Cushendall winning the game 5.06 to 4.03.
Next we met Na Fianna and then Lucan Sarsfields, with Cushendall winning both games convincingly. Having won our group stage, we progressed to the final and met Ballyboden St Endas, final result 10.07 to 0.01.
The boys showed fantastic discipline and structure in every game, each player held their position and played their hearts out as a team.
This was the culmination of a great U10 season, effort, determination and discipline was the order of the day.
Big well done boys, it goes to show that all that hard work at training pays off!!
