Ruairi Og V Portaferry
Ruairi Og got their league campaign off to a winning start with an impressive performance against Portaferry. Cushendall dominated the early exchanges and after ten minutes they were 0-4 to 0-1 ahead thanks to three Shane Mc Naughton frees and a point from play from Conor Carson. Portaferry did get themselves back into the game with two pointed frees from Paul Braniff but Ruairi Og were fighting hard for every ball. Paddy Mc Gill won a high ball and from 55 yards he sent over a terrific point, Karl Mc Keegan also pointed after being well set up by his mid field partner Paddy Mc Naughton and when Neil Mc Manus fed Brian Delargy who in turn found the net thing looked ominous for the Down side. Eoin Laverty, working his socks off, pointed from the left wing and Mc Keegan converted a free to push The Dall further in front. Paul Braniff and Aidan O Prey both raised white flags for Portaferry but the final score of the half came from a Shane Mc Naughton free to leave the score at the short whistle Ruairi Og 1-10 Portaferry 0-5.
Things didn’t get any better for the visitors in the second half, Neil Mc Manus pointed a long range free, Paddy Mc Gill sent over another great point and Shane Mc Naughton converted a free from an acute angle to leave eleven points between the teams. Portaferry were showing only token resistance but they did register a couple of points from Paul Braniff and Eamon Adair but in the closing fifteen minutes they failed to score while Ruairi Og closed out the game with further points from Shane Mc Naughton(0-2), Paddy Mc Gill, Eoin Laverty, Neil Mc Manus and Karl Mc Keegan to leave the final score Ruairi Og 1-19 Portaferry 0-7.

Ruairi Og second string made it two wins from two on Easter Sunday. The seeds of victory were sown with a strong first half performance, a goal and a point from John Mc Manus and some fine scores from Dominic Delargy, Andrew Delargy and Eoghan Campbell thee teams switched ends with The Dall in front 1-8 to 1-3.
How they played: Shea Mc Naughton was solid at the back and he was well assisted by Sean Mc Killop, Eoghan Campbell was the pick of the mid fielders and up front Dominic Delargy, John Mc Manus, Andrew Delargy and when introduced Alex Delargy all looked dangerous but my man of the match goes to Dan Kinney who was excellent at corner back, he made several telling interceptions and never gave his man an inch all day.
