With everybody caught up with all the excitement regarding the Antrim U21s in the All Ireland Final on Saturday in Thurles v defending champions Clare, and we wish Antrim every success, please remember that all roads lead to Loughgiel on Sunday for the Antrim Minor Hurling Final at 4pm v St Johns.
A huge task lies before the Minor management team and their panel as St Johns have been the only team to beat us in the MHL. St Johns have recently retained the Minor Football Championship for the third year in a row and they are also looking to do a 'treble double' having also won the Minor Hurling Championship for the last two years, a superb achievement for the Whiterock road club.
It will take a massive effort to dethrone the Johnnies but we have a very talented bunch of players and a very strong, experienced management team, who won the Darragh Cup earlier this year (to bring it to five in a row wins). Our semi final win over Rossa will give great confidence and if we keep our focus and bring the semi final form to the Final we will push the defending champions very hard and come 5.15pm we will have the chance of adding the Minor Championship to the Senior Reserve Championship.
Best wishes also go to John 'Big Jackie' Carson who after a year of promising displays as a referee has been rewarded with being appointed the referee in the Minor B Hurling Championship Oisins v Dunloy at 2.30pm as the curtain raiser to the A Final.
Good luck lads, Ruairí Óg Abú
