After a spring or toil and sweat
These last few weeks we’ll never forget,
Eight teams, all a mix, it has to be said,
And out of it many new friendships were made.
Now, sometimes this competition be’s fierce,
But not coming first sure is no disgrace,
And with 3 weigh in’s and 1 challenge to go,
Sure any of the teams could steal the show.
The Glens Gazelles are a bit lacking belief
And it’s not for me to give them some grief
But if Seamus and Henry drop the box down a gear
And push up the Rev’s, think they’ll come near.
Now Paddy and Skinner with Dolphins to train,
Are doing wild well and are takin’ the strain
But keep your foot on the pedal,
The team dressed in blue,
There may be a high ranking finish for you.
These Antelopes, they come dressed in Pink,
If they keep it up, could cause a stink,
And with a Husband and Wife team, training them well;
Sure the teams like there youngsters
They’re turned out looking swell.
The Tigers are known to do real huff and puff,
And yes they’re made of winning stuff,
So keep up the pressure and knuckle right down,
For there’s still a brave few points to be found.
Harry Hares they are real sweet
And may well be the ones to beat
But remember a story from long ago,
Bout a Hare and a Tortoise who walked very slow,
Aye the steady oul boy took his time and he won,
So watch yourselves hares and don’t be undone.
Now the Kangaroos are bouncing along,
And everything looks to be on song,
With Tina and Eoin and their team in Grey,
They’ll be in the mix at the end of the day.
The Lurig Lions are pushing real tough,
It would make you wonder when they’ve had enough,
But with Karl and Marie driving them fit,
A very good finish is looking like it.
The Central Cheetahs are a team to behold,
And to these one a pup, could never be sold,
With Wee Dick and Woody steering them on
The top of the pile is where they belong.
So with the race still wide open, keep up the heat
Just a wee while longer the pain in your feet,
For effort and dedication, you done yourselves proud,
And can truly stand out amongst the crowd.
Aye all the losers are winners and winners one and all
That’ll be the Robler’s from Cushendall.
Now just take one moment, look back and reflect,
Bout a ROBL team member we’ll never forget,
A Giant of a Man a great Husband and Dad
James untimely passing was sadder than sad,
But this be sure of, as time passes by,
He will be smiling with a glint in his eye,
From Ossian’s Grave right till the Sea Wall
Watching over his home Cushendall.
