Ruairi Og Cushendall and Cuchullains Dunloy clash on Sunday the 16th of September in the semi final of the Antrim Senior Hurling Championship and both teams will be keen to emulate past glory’s. Up until 2010 these teams dominated Antrim and Ulster hurling, over the previous thirty years both sides have claimed 11 county titles. In this year’s county league Ruairi Og have been more consistent that Dunloy however Cuchullains notably took the scalp of All Ireland Champions Loughgiel in early summer. The teams have met twice this season with Cushendall winning both encounters, the first 2-13 to 0-7 and the second 1-14 to 2-9 but as hurling people are well aware league form means nothing when it comes to championship. For Ruairi Og Marty Burke, Aaron Graffin and Paddy Mc Gill have stood out this year while Dunloy’s best performers have been Paddy Doherty, Paul Shiels and Shan Dowds. A tight game is anticipated with both teams having genuine aspirations to progress, who will win? This game is too close to call, we will get our answer around 5 o’ clock on Sunday.
