We are pleased to announce that Robert Stephenson FRSA, Founder - CEO of Blastbeat Education UK, and who is a visitor to Cushendall, would like to work with Ruairí Óg and in particular the young people in our community aged 14-18.
The project gives you the chance to improve your personal development skills & experiences which will be a major benefit to you when applying for a place in further education or employment with a mix of Sports and Music.
Robert will bring two great Blastbeat artists / singer songwriters over from London to spend a long weekend in Cushendall from the 5th to the 10th of January.
They will be available to play a set of songs for any group of young people and or others who would like to find out more about what a Blastbeat project can offer, over the weekend. At the end of our presentation to the young people and mentors they will play some music for 15 or 20 minutes.
Blastbeat have now developed the programme to bring sporting and music events together to engage, empower and educate young people the many life skills. Participants learn by doing through a fun, cool, engaging and personally rewarding programme that gives great insights and experiences. This gives real, fun and practical experience to some alternative career paths for participants.
This programme also encourages social capital and engagement both in preparing young people for the workplace as well as in the academic process. Blastbeat builds great self-confidence, self-worth, strong interpersonal and team relationships amongst participants and their clubs and community. After three months of preparation participants stage a one-day sporting and music event.
On top of that he has arranged a music session in Jonny Joe’s pub on the Saturday night 7th Jan, early at 7.30pm. Thus maybe some of the young people from 14 upwards that we meet may want to attend with their folks or friends. They will be welcome up to around 9pm if they are under 18.
Joe Mc Collam of Johnny Joe’s pub said he will also invite some local young musicians there for the 7th. That way we can talk more about the project and socialise a bit together and we can all enjoy the music from these Blastbeat artists, Jack Price and Laurie Wright aka "The Lodgers” plus maybe a few others?
The Blastbeat multi award-winning programme has successfully run in schools and youth clubs in Ireland since 2003 and in England since 2009.
I am also attaching a Blastbeat summary for your attention.
