Cushendall 3-22 Ballygalget 0-14

Cushendall took a step nearer securing a place in the top five of Division 1 when they beat Ballygalget in Sunday’s league game at Pairc Mhuir. Ballycran are two points behind them after their win over Ballycastle but they have a game in hand on the Ruairis and could still overtake them, but if Cushendall can get at least a draw when the sides meet on Thursday evening then they are safe.
Cushendall were always in control of Sunday’s game and were three up after five minutes as Paddy McGill, Eoghan Campbell and Ryan McCambridge all pointed from play. Magic Johnston pulled one back for Ballygalget from a free but an Ed McQuillan point was followed by a goal and point from Ryan McCambridge which gave the home side a decided edge.

The visitor had a good spell midway through the half when two points from Johnston frees and one from play by Owen Clarke brought them back into the game but a second goal by Ryan McCambridge swung the momentum back in Cushendall’s favour as they raced to a 2-11 to 0-8 half time lead.
The gap was out to nine early in the second half as Dominic Delargy hit points on either side of one from Paddy McGill. Johnston kept the Ballygalget scoreboard ticking over with a series of points from play but the gap was ever widening as Delagry, McGill and Aidan Delargy kept the scores flowing at the other end.
